So now we’re going to have a month of debate about Rick Warren and what he stands for.
Warren has been described as the next Billy Graham, an evangelical leader with a moderate reputation and mass-market appeal — although instead of massive open-air rallies and an out-sized television presence, Warren focused on forging partnerships with unlikely allies working to protect the environment and fight AIDS.
As a pioneer of the mega-church movement, Warren looked to translate traditional evangelical messages for a wider audience. He penned “The Purpose-Driven Life,” a spiritually based self-help guide that brought mainstream best-seller status to a muted religious message.
Who cares?
This is the wrong debate.
Why is there even a religion invocation at the presidential inauguration?
Why did we have a debate at a mega church?
Why do we vote in churches?
America sure does argue a lot about mice nuts and not enough about the bigger concepts.
You are absolutely right. Who cares… about people like you that feel there is only one way to do things. That feel nothing but hatred and hide behind the cowardice of blog entries.
What is your claim to have helped humanity? By slamming everyone that doesn’t agree with you? Oh yeah…. I bet you are a real winner.
One thing that we, as Americans, have to admit is that the majority of us are very “simple-minded” people, including our president who, I don’t think, has an I.Q. of more than a retards I.Q. and therefore, he was the perfect president for opportunistic foreign interst lobbies in D.C. (AIPAC). All of our troubles started not after 9-11, but after 2003 when we were mislead by the pro-israeli lobbies in D.C about the WMD’s which lead to the invasion of Iraq. It was the perfect opportunity for Israel to whipe out an old nemesis, Saddam Hussain. we basically invaded Iraq on behalf of Israel. Just a few monthes ago, Bush commited to a $30 billion in free grant for Israel while our families are struggling to keep their homes and feed their kids. 3 major car makers just got denied a bail out, but suprizingly we have money to support Israel!!!! WHY??? for the past 100 years we supported Israel economically and polkitically at the expense of our own interest, not because we have anything in common with Israel, but because people in D.C are more loyal to Israel than they are to America. I think we need “shoe-throwers” in America.
Draeggo,
I’m not sure I understand your comment. Please explain.
I wasn’t attacking anyone’s ideology. I don’t think there’s value in discussing religious stances when we shouldn’t be mixing religion and politics anyway. Why? That’s a line of inquiry researched for hundreds of years with a common conclusion that the best way to govern for a set of mixed belief peoples is a govern devoid of religion.
As for your attack on what I claim to have done to help humanity… how can one even answer that? what type of answer would you even be looking for that would satisfy your accusation?
One thing I can answer is that I’m not hiding behind blog posts. You can find plenty of information about me on my About Russell page or you’re welcome to find me on Facebook or anywhere else. And if you really want to chat with me, I’ll be happy to talk on the phone, in person or any fashion that works for you.
Discussion is important and helps us constantly redefine our own rules, so I welcome it as much as possible – on blogs and otherwise.
Thanks for commenting and I hope for more spirited conversation.

Every moment this fat pig talks I want to smack him in the head. He says that when prop 8 protesters were outside of his asshole church, they passed out water and doughnuts.
Does he think that we’re so stupid that he can make peace by passing out pastries? What a fucking jerk!
This fat, christian pig, voted my right to marry away. I absolutely hate him for it. I want to repeal an evangelicals right to marry!
The opposition of this person makes hypocrites out of each and every person opposing. Groups from the gay community, religious community and wherever should take a moment and step back and ask yourselves: Why aren’t we willing to do what we ask of everyone else who might not agree with our lifestyle or beliefs?
In case you can’t figure it out, it comes down to tolerance and acceptance….that not everyone is the same nor believes in the same things but should be respected and allowed to pursue those directions in life that they choose….as long as it doesn’t infringe upon the rights of others.
You’ll never achieve the acceptance and tolerance you pursue by not granting that same to others when given the chance.
you would have gained more by saying something like: We certainly don’t agree with the choice of ******* but we respect the President elect’s right to chose and support him accordingly.
Smarten up!
That’s not where my post was going.
We shouldn’t be mixing religion and politics because we’ll never resolve all our differences on what tolerance, acceptance, and “rights” are when religion is involved. We all have different genes, different histories.
I’m not trying to gain anything other than more discussion. Tolerance and acceptance will not grow until more folks learn more about behavior and value creation. Even tolerance and acceptance is a reinforced behavior – it’s not something you can isolate. It’s not a set of values out in the universe. It’s not even a target you can set out for.
I don’t want acceptance and tolerance in the common usage of those terms. I want intellectual debate and continued understanding of how we come to value what we value.
Obama has no ethics. He wanted votes but he is not keeping promises
Examples?
He doesn’t have ethics or he doesn’t have your ethics?
Rick Warren keep up the good work. As it has been suggested the separation of church & government completely then Gov. Blagoviech shouldn’t be in any trouble. Our concept of right and wrong comes from somewhere. We’re not getting our ethics from out of the air? People get real, God exist in every facet of our lives whether we admit it or not. If God does not rule in your life, then we are subject to do or say anything. I love all people; I don’t accept things that are contrary to God’s word. You shouldn’t either.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
How does your logic work that if we have separation of church and government then Blagoviech shouldn’t be in trouble?
What does Blagoviech’s status have to do with religion?
The term “evangelical” has in my view negative connotations. I equate these folks with some “hate groups”. Be and do like us or else…I really don’t care what this fella believes or spews on his churches podium regularly. I think BO blew it by picking him, or some self important person like Billy Graham.
Hating the Gay people and many of the other anti-isms coming out of these folks places of “worship” in most uncool.
I would just say to leave religion out of public life and into the church environment and the rest of us alone.
Hey,,,, you want Bush League you had in the past then you remain exclusive to your set of rules on right or wrong.
You want inclusive then you let everyone in to the light of day and let them fall and rise as need be. That includes people you don’t understand, like, know, or support.
Didn’t we see enough of the former for 8 years or do you want more special interpretations of the Constitution, closed meetings, fabrications of information, distortions of reports on everything and anything.
Now, punks, you got to ask yourself, do we feel lucky or good? I’ll go with good.
We are all out there now….let’s do it right.
